Sam Hauser’s fashion train ahead of the Boston Celtics’ 2022-23 season.

Hauser showed his impressive shot at the start of pre-season. The 24-year-old had 14 points in Game 1 and 22 on Wednesday night. He shot 5 for 8 from beyond the arc in his 26 minutes on the court against Toronto, making it 9 of 13 from 3-point range in the first two exhibitions.

The C’s will be counting on Hauser to take a step forward in his development and add some much-needed goals off the bench this season. It’s a job he was literally born to do, according to his mother Stephanie Hauser.

Stephanie joined our Chris Forsberg on a new episode of the Celtics Talk podcast and explained how Sam’s passion for basketball began. Judging by Sam’s first sentence, he was destined to be a sniper in the NBA.

“He literally gravitated to it as soon as he could walk and talk,” Stephanie said. “He loved the Nerf hoop, and Sam’s first two-word line was, ‘Me shot.’

“He had a little Nerf hoop and he had just the perfect little tracking. I said to my husband, ‘Did you teach him that?’ My husband was a basketball coach and (Sam) used to come to the gym with Dave ( Sam’s dad) on a daily basis, and he just watched. He watched these high school kids shoot and he had this perfect little follow-up with a little Nerf hoop.

“That’s all he wanted to do. I always joked that Sam wasn’t someone you really had to punish, but if you had to punish him, just take the Nerf hoop off and he’d cry and would cry. Because all he wanted to do was shooty all day.”
