Gathering Festival “Welcoming and Walking with Refugees” – Episcopal News Service

The Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe will hold a “Festival of Gathering” in Clermont-Ferrand, France, on October 28-29, 2022. Focused on “Welcoming and Walking with Refugees,” the gathering will provide attendees with presentations and workshops designed to help Anglican churches in Europe respond with eagerness and compassion to the presence of refugees as neighbors in the communities we serve.

In partnership with Episcopal Relief & Development, the humanitarian agency of the Episcopal Church, Convocation will offer a grant program to congregations seeking to begin or strengthen their ministry to refugees. An introduction to the program will be offered at the gathering, along with information on how congregations can request support. All congregations of churches in the Anglican Communion in Europe are eligible to apply for support.

Speakers at the gathering will include representatives from Episcopal Relief and Development, the Churches Commission on Migrants in Europe and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Workshops will explore the challenges of working with traumatized communities, the dangers of human trafficking, techniques for developing and launching new ministry initiatives, and opportunities for church initiatives in the context of social protection systems.
