Penske Truck Leasing has opened a new plant in Tampa, Florida. Located at 7140 East Martin Luther King Boulevard, the new location will allow the transportation services company to improve the service it provides to existing customers in the area, as well as the ability to add new customers.
This is Penske’s second recent investment in the local Tampa market. The location is 28,406 square feet. and sits on 11.15 acres. It has five truck service bays, an automated wash bay system and mobile truck lifts, the company says.
Penske says the new facility offers both personal and commercial truck rentals, full-service truck rentals, and contract truck fleet maintenance. It is also equipped with the company’s proprietary all-digital and voice-activated preventive maintenance process and connected fleet solutions, a value-added resource to help customers resolve issues and options related to on-board technology systems (ELD). , telematics, on-board cameras, etc.) .
“We grew in the area and needed more space to accommodate our growing customer base,” said Joe Hill, senior vice president of the Southeast region of Penske. “Our new and improved facility is conveniently located near major freeways and downtown Tampa, making accessibility easy for our commercial and consumer rental customers.”
Penske currently employs 40 associates in the new plant and hires truck technicians, customer service representatives, tourers and drivers locally and nationally. In 2020, the company opened a software development and cybersecurity support center in Tampa. This technology center, located at 5401 W Kennedy Boulevard, employs 75 people and plans to continue to expand into high-tech jobs over the next few years.
